Are you and your business at risk for unlicensed activity?

Australia’s building regulators are intensifying their crackdown on unlicensed and improperly licensed work. Across all states, hundreds of penalties are issued each year, with fines often reaching into the multi-million-dollar range — and businesses being ordered to close.

In Queensland, hundreds of fines have been issued for unlicensed contracting. In NSW, 2024 prosecutions alone resulted in hundreds of penalties, and in Victoria, recent years have seen multi-million-dollar fines issued. Enforcement is ramping up, with large-scale audit blitzes, stop-work orders, and mandatory rectifications becoming increasingly common.
