Brisbane’s $7 Billion plan for the 2032 Olympics

The vast urban renewal of Brisbane ahead of the 2032 Olympic games, is set to generate tens of thousands of jobs across multiple industries. With such large-scale construction projects planned, employment opportunities for skilled trades will skyrocket. These projects will require a large workforce ranging from architects and engineers to chippies, sparkies, and plumbers. Alongside this, huge sectors of the Australian economy like tourism, hospitality, and transportation will also be boosted. This will provide amuch-needed boost to the economy, creating jobs for workers of all skill levels.

Brisbane’s $7 billion 2032 Master Plan incorporates more than just sporting venues, it betters the way Brisbane functions. Improving the livability of Brisbane ensures the city is prepared for the influx of tourists, and improves the city for future generations. This spans from the ease of transportation with the Cross-RiverRail project, to the $2.7 billion Gabba redevelopment, and the ambitious $2.5billion Brisbane Arena development. Built above Roma Street train station, the Arena will house an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Outside of the city, $1.87 billion will develop or renew 16 different Olympic venues throughout Queensland. This includes the Sunshine Coast Stadium and Brisbane Aquatic Centre. These projects will form Queensland into Australia’s new state for sport.

Brisbane’s plans for the Olympics will form an ever lasting legacy for the city, with venues to be used for decades to come. The Olympics also provides opportunities for businesses of all sizes to grow and create new jobs. Overall, the 2032 Olympic Games are expected to be a major driver of economic growth and job creation in Australia, providing benefits that extend far beyond the construction industry.
